Cottonwood is a small organization run by a few full-time staff members.  Each semester we are joined by a variety of educators and volunteers.  We are always looking for experienced, detail-oriented candidates, who bring creativity and organizational skills to our community.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Cottonwood NYC is looking for a creative, energetic leader to direct our After School program.

We are looking for dynamic educators to join our team! Cottonwood is currently accepting applications for the Agile After School Facilitator position to serve our afterschool program of learners aged 5 - 12 years.

Monday through Thursday afternoons from 2:30 - 6:00, our team of facilitators support learners as they grow in community, hone skills, identify and work on projects, and develop autonomy.

This position will be great for you if you genuinely love to be in community with young people and are masterful at following their lead. If you find yourself making adventure out of the mundane and celebrating all the tiny wins, this job is for you and we look forward to hearing from you!

This position pays $18-22 per hour depending on experience.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, detail-oriented and demonstrate the strong organizational skills necessary for this role.

Agile Learning Facilitators act as models, space-holders, and mentors of self-directed learning and intentional culture creation. Above all, facilitators need to be grounded in the perspective of trusting children and committed to fostering curiosity and treating every experience as an adventure.

Facilitation responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Recognize and act on daily opportunities to foster a learner’s curiosity into a deeper investigation (This should be second nature to you)

  • Practice the art of “maximum support with minimal interference” in the context of working with young people

  • Ability to multitask in fast-paced, dynamic learning environments

  • Act as host: connecting learners, welcoming guests, sharing daily work with the families , and communicating with parents as needed

  • Act as a liason between the Agile after School program and Cottonwood's directors through weekly communication

  • Clean and reset the space at the end of each day

General Info:

Full-Time Facilitator roles are primarily fulfilled Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 3:30pm.

Part-Time Facilitators average 20 hours per week.

Agile School Program Director roles are fulfilled Monday - Thursday from the hours of 2:00 pm to 6:00pm.
